Meet Makenzie

Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern

Hi! My name is Makenzie Moffett, and I am a Registered Intern, working under the supervision of Laura Van Camp. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Florida Atlantic University (FAU).
I’m passionate about helping clients of all ages develop a deeper understanding of who they areand who they have the potential to become by exploring thoughts and emotions, navigating challenges, and creating meaningful growth in therapy. Whether you’re an individual, child, couple, or family, I am committed to providing a supportive, collaborative, and tailored counseling experience.
What to Expect Having Me As Your Counselor:
As a Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) specialist, I approach counseling from a systemic and holisticperspective—considering not only the individual(s) I work with but also the larger systems and environments thatshape their experiences. This perspective provides a fuller understanding of each person and helps illuminate how they relate to their world.
My clients often present with concerns such as depression, grief, life transitions, family or interpersonal conflict, and other emotional or cognitive challenges. However, I welcome clients from all backgrounds and presenting issues, and am equipped to help you navigate a wide variety of challenges. My goal is to foster meaningful, positive change and ensure each client receives the highest quality of care possible. I draw from a variety of theoretical frameworks depending on my client’s needs. I take the time to understand clients as they understand themselves—identifying their hopes, goals, and areas of which they hope to improve. I then use my clinical judgement to determine what will be the best and most effective evidence-based approach/interventions to target and achieve the client’s desired growth outcomes.Together, we create collaborative goals that promote growth, skill development, and lasting change that can be maintained throughout time.
